A little after 9 a.m., President Bob Atwood opened the discussion on the steps to be taken in order to apply to the Main Streets programs in Maryland and DC:
1. Decide on a name that reflects the whole of the membership: from 4th Street to Old Town to Takoma Junction.
2. Apply for a 501(c)3
3. Develop By-laws, mission statement, logo, flier

The following decisions were made:

- Old Takoma Business Association became the new name of the organization, with a vote of 8 for, 0 against. (Some attendees abstained.)

- We will look into filing for a 501(c)3 in both Maryland and DC. John Urciolo will find out what needs to be done in Maryland; Faith Wheeler, in DC.

- The Marketing Committee, with Bobbi Kittner as Chair, will assume the responsibility for developing the mission statement, logo, flyer. Bob Atwood will take the lead in drafting the By-laws. The Recruitment/Membership Committee will merge with the Marketing Committee for now.

- Faith Wheeler will email to everyone the shorter version of the Mission Statement.

- The Fundraising Committee will proceed with plans for participation in the street festival to raise money in general and specifically to match the $25,000 grant from the Takoma Park City Council.

- The Fundraising Committee will meet at 9 am on Friday, May 16 at the Savory; the Marketing Committee will meet at 1 pm on Friday, May 16 at the Kittner offices.

The next general Old Takoma Business Association meeting will be at 9 am on May 27, 2003 at the Sang-ha Café.

Meeting was adjourned.
