Design Committee projects
include:
Clean up days--Saturday, April 19 and Saturday, October 18, 2008.
Clean up includes weeding, mulching, picking up trash, planting, and general beautification.
Active trash and graffiti removal program
Storefront window display program with a "Golden Roscoe Award"
for holiday window displays
Development of a landscape
maintenance system including a weeding campaign and the Adopt A Tree program which successfully organized the watering of dozens of trees,
Development of informational
signs in Old Takoma in partnership with the City of Takoma Park's
Wayfinding signage program, and
Implementation of a Facade Improvement
Grant Program for business and building owners, with grant money from the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development available for matching grants for local business owners and commercial property owners.
Survey and inventory of needed repairs of historic lampposts.
