Old Takoma Business Association
The Old Takoma Business Association is a membership organization of local businesses in the Old Takoma area. Our mission is to bring together businesses, residents and community organizations dedicated to developing a vibrant market center, from Takoma Junction Maryland to the Takoma Theatre, DC, to enhance our unique and historic town setting. We welcome new members so together we may create a better, brighter future for Old Takoma.
Third Annual Main Street Takoma Spring Clean Up, April 19, 2008
Please join us! On Saturday, April 19th, we'll have volunteers stretching down the entire commercial stretch of Main Street Takoma, Carroll Avenue from the Takoma Junction, to the Clock Tower at Laurel Avenue, and on to Triangle Park at 4th Street, NW. We'll be weeding, mulching, planting flowers and picking up trash to clean and beautify our downtown. Service Learning hours are available for students and preapproved for Montgomery County Public Schools.
Junction Day and Earth Day, Sunday, April 20, 2008, Takoma Junction
On Sunday, Apriil 20, join us as we celebrate the Earth and the Rebirth of the Takoma Junction. From 10am to 7pm, the Takoma Food Co-op will sponsor events including performances by Chopteeth, Magpie and a huge drumming circle. From 12 to 4pm, the Old Takoma Business Association will celebrate the opening of new businesses: The Pajama Squid, Bikram Yoga, and Pizza Roma. We'll have a juggler, balloon animals, face painting and Sumer Delight's ice cream truck. The Fire Department will have their engine out, and Healey Surgeon will have an Austin Healey or two parked outside. Takoma Park police will have Bike Patrol Officers on hand, and Montgomery County Parks will have an officer on horseback. Come and celebrate Spring and our community.

Facade Improvement Grants:
Have you noticed some of the sprucing up going on in Old Takoma? Now is the time to undertake projects for your storefront. OTBA--Main Street Takoma has received funding from the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development to use in a one-to-one match for facade improvement. Commercial property owners and business owners are eligible to apply for the Facade Improvement Grants. Commercial Security Surveys:
The Takoma Park Police and the DC Policing for Prevention Division offer a free service to the businesses in their respective jurisdictions. If requested, the police will conduct a free commercial security survey in your place of business, which takes about 30 to 45 minutes to complete.
